Who is leading the way in health literacy?

Nominate a Missouri Health Literacy Trailblazer

Health Literacy Media is accepting nominations for the 2018 Missouri Health Literacy Trailblazer Awards, which will be presented at our Health Literacy Awards Dinner on October 30th.

How do you know a health literacy trailblazer when you see one? They're individuals and organizations, working in Missouri, who are taking action to make health information meaningful. They're connecting people, systems, and communities in ways that make the healthy choice the easy choice. They're improving health in measurable ways, every day.

Here are just a few past awardees:

  • Geriatrician Saba Habis, M.D., was recognized for his work to help older adults manage medications and improve healthcare decision-making

  • Angie Knackstedt, B.S.N., R.N.-B.C., was recognized for her leadership in promoting health literate environments and active learning in healthcare

  • The Kansas City CARE Clinic was recognized for its work on policies that institutionalize health literacy

  • The Central Missouri Community Action Agency's Eat Healthy, Stay Active program was recognized for its work with students in the Head Start program and their families to improve nutrition and increase physical activity
