Recruitment Program Manager

Patrice Matthews

BS

As a Recruitment Program Manager, Patrice builds community partnerships to recruitment participants for user testing clinical trial materials. She leads HLM’s efforts get feedback from the target audience to ensure materials are easy to understand for the specific communities and the general public.

As part of the Clearly Communicating Clinical Trials (C3T) program, Patrice is heavily involved in the entire recruitment and testing process, including, overseeing audience recruitment efforts, designing recruitment materials, strategizing best methods for testing, leading focus groups to test clinical trial materials, and developing reports. Her role involves constantly building and fostering strategic partnerships with communities and stakeholders, which she does with ease.

Before joining HLM, Patrice worked as a political strategist and community organizer. She managed and directed campaigns for federal and statewide candidates and oversaw statewide volunteer recruitment efforts across multiple states. Patrice has also stood by, supported, and advocated for communities as a reproductive health advocate. Her passion for combatting maternal and infant mortality in underserved/minority communities led her to serve as a lactation counselor and birth/postpartum doula. She brings that same passion to other HLM projects focused on community health, maternal health, and health equity.

Patrice received a Bachelor of Science degree in public health with a focus on health promotion, education, and behavior from the University of South Carolina's Norman J. Arnold School of Public Health.
