If you’re looking for a guide as you explore what health literacy and clear communication can look like for your work, let Allen walk with you. Creating and fostering meaningful partnerships with the ever-growing group of health care organizations, nonprofits, pharmaceutical companies, academic institutions (and more) we work with is Allen’s top priority.

Allen combines his creativity and cooperative spirit with his expertise in the business case for health literacy to help healthcare administrators, clinicians, investigators, managers and other professionals understand the benefits to both internal and external stakeholders that health literacy brings to their organizations’ missions.

Allen brought more than two decades of experience in relationship development and clear communication to our team through his work in various non-profit, governmental, and political organizations. Most recently, Allen directed Community Engagement and Policy for FOCUS St. Louis, a non-profit leadership development organization, and prior to that role served as Director of Patient Education and Advocacy for The Global Healthy Living Foundation, a non-profit advocacy organization created to improve the quality of life for people with chronic illness. Allen has held director-level roles in patient education, policy, and advocacy at organizations that promote social change, medical research, and life-saving cures for patients across the nation. This vast and various experience has created a solid foundation of successful non-profit leadership which, paired with his deep understanding of health literacy, helps Allen listen, collaborate, and create to meet the needs of partners who wish to prioritize improving health for patients and communities.

Allen holds a bachelor's degree in communication from University of Missouri – Columbia. He is a member of numerous boards and committees, including serving on the Webster Groves School District Board of Education, where his children attend school.
